I am a nationally certified Speech-Language Pathologist, licensed in three states: Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri. With over 20 years of experience working with people of all ages in hospital, school, home health, and private clinic settings, I have extensive experience in prevention, assessment, and treatment of young children, teenagers, and adults with articulation, language, fluency (stuttering), voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.

Specializations include:

  • Pragmatic (social) disorders for all ages.
  • Adult cognitive and communicative rehabilitation (after stroke, accidents, etc.)
  • Adult, high school, and middle school fluency (stuttering).
  • Parent training on behavior issues, helping parents understand how to optimize communication and increase desired behaviors.

I love connecting with clients and their families, exploring options to help them heal and find success in communication. My best days are when I witness remarkable stroke recovery or a middle school student marvels, “I’ve never been able to say my ‘r’ until now!” My heart fills with joy when I’m able to help an anxious or crying adolescent calm down, center themselves, and leave my office with a smile.

Healing is what I do. Helping people live a better life is a passion and life purpose for me. I will do all I can to help you, too.

Alternative Healing Focus

My holistic approach starts with getting to know the big picture. How does family life affect healing? Are there deep-seated beliefs holding the body in stasis or decline? Is your family more faith-based or logical? What are your views or expectations on how quickly healing and progress can take place? What have doctors, teachers, and other caregivers told you about the condition and how does that affect your emotions and views on healing? Are you open to meditation, releasing blocks of energy or emotion, or do you resonate more with traditional medicine and healing?

The objective is to take where you are at, where you want to be, and how you want to get there, and turn it into goals, purpose, progress, and healing.

For me, the connection of speech therapy to alternative healing and personal development training is natural. Alternative healing is an excellent supplement to the therapy process. When working with adults, adolescents, or children, there are feelings and frustrations involved with their conditions that I often work through with them. Traditional speech therapy is a constant balance of actual therapy, education to clients and families, collaborating with teachers and healthcare providers, and doing your best to meet the needs of each individual.

However, over 20 years of working with people of all ages, I started intuiting beyond the communication difficulty. Now I sense more than just “symptoms” and how to treat them. I feel the energy given off, or the spiritual guides they have surrounding them, or the imbalance of confusion or intense anger balled up in their core. I connect with students, patients, and clients on a deeper level. I feel their feelings, and used to give away my own energy to help them recover, coming home completely exhausted because I had not yet realized the energy exchange that was happening. Being able to combine alternative healing approaches with knowledge of child development, communication disorders, parenting styles, and intuiting a client’s emotions and needs allows me to offer more comprehensive healing options. I can now utilize my training in Reiki, ThetaHealing®, and traditional speech therapy, and tap into a much greater healing power.
